1. General information about cookies
Pursuant to the GDPR, as well as in accordance with the provisions established by the Guarantor for the protection of personal data with the resolution of 8.05.2014 and with the guidelines issued on 10.06.2021 for the identification of simplified procedures for the information and acquisition of consent to the use of cookies and in compliance with all subsequent clarifications, with this notice the Data Controller provides its Cookie Policy.
What cookies are.
Cookies are small strings of code that sites visited by the user send to the user’s terminal (usually to the browser: Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.), where they are stored in order to be retransmitted at each occurrence or subsequent access by the same user.
Why they are useful.
Through the use of cookies, the website visited recognizes the user’s device, which̀ results in an improved browsing experience. Among the various purposes̀ of cookies are to enable the user to effectively navigate through the pages of the website, remember favorite sites, store language, etc.; cookies also help to ensure that advertising content displayed online is more targeted, in relation to the user’s specific interests.
The classification of cookies.
Cookies are classified into different types:
- in relation to duration, the cookie can be session, i.e., automatically deleted when the browser is closed, or persistent, i.e., active until its expiration date or deletion by the user;
- in relation to origin, the cookie can be first-party, meaning sent to the browser directly from the site you are visiting, or third-party, meaning̀ sent to the browser from other sites and not from the site you are visiting.
- in relation to purposè, the cookie can be either technical or profiling.
Other technologies assimilated to cookies.
It should be specified that the purposes usually served by a cookie can also be accomplished through other assimilated technologies, including the use of certain device-identifying features so that visits to a website can be analyzed. This policy, in fact, applies to any technology that stores or accesses information on a user’s device. Examples could include HTML5 local storage, Local Shared Objects (also called flash cookies), and fingerprinting techniques. Specifically, device fingerprinting is a technique of combining a variety of information in order to uniquely identify a particular device. Examples of the information that device fingerprinting can detect, associate or infer include:
data derived from the configuration of a device;
data inferred from the use of particular network protocols;
JavaScript;
HTTP header information; clock information;
fonts installed;
plugins installed in the browser.
Henceforth when talking about cookies, other assimilated technologies will also be considered to be included in this definition.
The technical cookie.
It allows the improvement of the user’s browsing experience. Indeed, without the use of technical cookies, certain operations would be very complex or even impossible to perform. Such cookies — which may be first-party or third-party, session-based or persistent — do not require the user’s prior consent for installation.
Technical cookies are “strictly necessary” when they enable effective navigation of the website and use of essential features, such as facilitating user authentication or saving prior actions. Blocking these cookies may impair the user’s browsing experience.
Alternatively, technical cookies are classified as “functional” when they improve the browsing experience by storing user preferences, such as language, name, or location. Blocking these cookies will not compromise browsing functionality, but the user may not be able to take advantage of these useful services.
Technical cookies are deemed “analytical” when they allow the collection of information on user interactions with the website, such as the number of pages visited, time spent on the website, most visited pages, and any other insights from browsing, including errors encountered on a given page. These cookies provide the website owner with statistical data on navigation and help improve the services offered to the user.
Analytical cookies are considered technical — and not profiling — when the website owner has adopted measures to reduce their identifying power by masking significant portions of the IP address. The installation of technical cookies does not require the collection of prior user consent; thus, if the website only uses technical cookies, the data controller is not required to collect consent through the cookie banner. However, the extended notice (the one the user is currently reading) remains mandatory.
Profiling Cookies.
Profiling cookies are only activated following the user’s consent. Consent is given by clicking “OK” (or “continue,” etc.) on the banner displayed on the homepage or another page on the site, or through an active user intervention (e.g., by selecting an element below the banner).
Profiling cookies are used to enhance the services provided by the Data Controller and to select and deliver advertising based on the user’s preferences and interests expressed during browsing. Using profiling cookies for targeted advertising does not increase the number of ads displayed nor impede the browsing experience. In fact, if profiling cookies are deactivated, users will see only generic ads instead of advertisements aligned with their interests. Examples of profiling cookies include third-party analytical or statistical cookies without IP masking and data cross-referencing, as well as advertising, tracking, or conversion cookies.
2. Managing Cookie Preferences
Upon first accessing any page on the Site, a banner appears containing:
- a brief notice;
- a button that allows users to accept all cookies;
- a button that allows users to refuse the installation of cookies, except for technical ones;
- a button labeled “details,” which provides access to a dashboard where users can select individual cookie types for installation.
In any case, except for the user’s prior consent regarding profiling cookies, users can also manage their cookie preferences through the settings of the browser used. By default, most web browsers are set to automatically accept cookies, but users can modify this default configuration via their browser settings, which allow the deletion/removal of all or some cookies, blocking the sending of cookies, or limiting it to specific sites.
Disabling/blocking or deleting cookies may compromise optimal use of certain areas of the site or prevent certain features from functioning, and it may impact the operation of third-party services.
Cookie management configuration depends on the browser being used. Below are instructions and links to guides for managing cookies on major desktop browsers:

If users operate multiple browsers, they will need to complete the cookie deletion procedure on each one. If users employ different devices (such as smartphones or tablets), they will need to refer to the device’s manual for instructions on uninstalling cookies. Please note that choosing to block cookies may impair or prevent the proper functioning of the website, as some cookies are strictly necessary for navigation.
